Choosing An Evidence-Based Intervention for Your School or District

Students in rural classrooms often do not receive high-quality STEM instruction due to insufficient teacher training, lack of technology, and other factors. Several noteworthy practices that rural counties have implemented to address this issue — including investing in relationships with local colleagues and bridging distance with technology — have emerged from our ongoing work with the California Partnership for Math and Science Education.

The Expository Reading and Writing Curriculum (ERWC) is an English language arts course designed to prepare 12th grade students for college-level English. One key finding after initial piloting: ERWC has a statistically significant positive impact on student achievement. Read more key findings, plus implications and next steps.
