Math Pathway & Pitfalls helps students to discuss mathematical concepts in rigorous, collaborative discourse. The materials have been effective in raising achievement for diverse groups of students and the lessons are appropriate for supplemental use in grades K-8 during distance learning. WestEd's Making Sense of SCIENCE adds to the body of knowledge about what works for Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) implementation. Recent findings reinforce the importance of peer collaboration as an effective tool for supporting student and teacher needs during NGSS implementation. Manteca Unified School District’s peer-to-peer collaboration, for example, plays a critical role in the transition to the NGSS and is part of teachers' daily instruction.

One of the earliest promises of the Common Core State Standards Initiative was the possibility of greater integration of concepts and skills across subject areas. One approach to this integration is treating the Standards for Mathematical Practice as cross-curricular thinking skills.
