By becoming a Program for Infant/Toddler Care Certified Trainer, you can improve the quality of infant and toddler care in your program, community, and state. You will also increase your training skills and receive useful materials and resources to support your work.

The Program for Infant/Toddler Care's regional training and technical assistance support the social-emotional development and learning of infants and toddlers in group settings. The subsidized training, mentoring, and coaching are designed for groups of infant/toddler care teachers, administrators, and family child care providers throughout California.

Safe Spaces, developed by the Office of the California Surgeon General, offers free online training for early learning and care providers to understand and respond to trauma and stress in young children. Providers learn the impact of trauma on health, development, and learning and receive strategies for creating healthy learning environments.

Distinguishing between the need for language development and special education for multilingual preschool children can be difficult. This report presents findings and recommendations from a study of how preschool practitioners in California determine whether to refer multilingual children for special education evaluation—a procedure known as the pre-referral process.
